Who among us hasn’t noticed itthe strange doubling of forms and facesthe echo in the world? The waves in rock, the veins in leaves, the ghostly flowerings of frost….
the sound of wind to the sound of water, the ruffling of field to the ruffling of fur, the memories of the living to the hopes of the dead. A familiar universe. A sea of small recognitions. A vast brotherhood of thoughts and things.
That is what he dreamed.
Mark Slouka, Lost Lake
Thy Kingdom Come portfolio focuses on totem-like beliefs and practices connecting man to animal. In a twilight world, united under a banner of ritual, we see evidence of devotion where all things are connected.
The idea of achieving animal spirit is at the heart of ancient Eurasian religion, a dormant memory in today’s contemporary culture. The resonance linking man to animal in a less primal world became the guiding theme of this series; emulating memories of a spiritual innocence and wisdom of our ancient cultures.
Usually shot in morning fog with a medium format camera, all prints are hand coated with platinum and palladium metals onto heavy French water color paper.
Paper size: 22 x 30 inches
